Under-Wire’s conception occurred in 2007 when Jannie Vaught and Dianna Tangen went to Maui for vacation and whale watching. Both of us were stressed out and bone weary when we arrived, renewed and rejuvenated when we left. But it wasn’t just the Island atmosphere that led to our recovery, it was spending quality time with another person sharing similar ideas and philosophies. It was the conversations, the meditations, and the companionship of like-minded souls that left us both uplifted and refreshed. Upon reflection, we realized that there were probably others out there searching for that same sense of shared purpose and support that we had found, so the idea of Under-Wire was conceived. Since we both have a healthy sense of humor, the name came from the support given by the underwire bra. The labor has been fairly lengthy but the delivery has been a joy. Jannie is a talented healer of mind, body, and spirit. Dianna just “is” but she lives on a most magical ranch outside of Wickenburg, Arizona, where Under-Wire is headquartered.

Under-Wire is just in its infancy stage but is growing quickly. We practice spirituality with a mixture of Native American, Christian, Pagan, Buddhist, among others. We celebrate both new and full moons with drumming circles. We have a labyrinth and have plans for another along with a permanent sweat lodge. Jannie leads vision quests and has a Huichole Alter for Spirit Journeys, Dianne reads Medicine Cards. There are always lots of four-leggeds around—horses, dogs, and cats—for that most healing contact of animals.
